Accessibility statement
Everyone should be able to work out their pay and plan a home purchase. SalaryHome aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA on every page.
What we do
- Every page is built as plain, structured HTML first, with headings in order, labeled form fields and tables with captions and headers. The results are in the page before any script runs.
- Every calculator works with a keyboard alone. Results are announced to screen readers when they change, and focus is never trapped.
- Colors meet the AA contrast ratios in both light and dark themes, and nothing relies on color alone.
- Charts always come with a table or text that gives the same figures.
- Pages reflow to a phone screen without losing content, and keep working when you zoom in.
- Animations are short and stop if your device asks for reduced motion.
How we check
Each release runs an automated audit (axe) on every page, in light and dark mode, against WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 levels A and AA, and is not published if any page fails. Automated tools find many problems but not all of them, so reports from people who use assistive technology are especially welcome.
Known limitations
- The long county and state tables are best read with a screen reader's table commands; on a phone they scroll sideways inside a labeled region.
- Linked government PDFs are outside our control and are not always accessible. Where we rely on one, the figures we use are on our page.
Tell us about a problem
If something does not work for you, email [email protected] with the page address and what happened. We aim to reply within five working days and to fix problems in our own code as a priority.
