About SalaryHome

SalaryHome answers two linked questions: what will I actually take home, and what home can that pay buy? The calculators follow your money from the paycheck to the mortgage, with the math shown at every step.

What it is

28 free calculators covering pay and tax, home buying and everyday money, with pages for every state and the District of Columbia and for the cities and counties that tax wages. Each one follows the rules an employer, a lender or a tax form actually uses for 2026, and each result can be carried into the next tool: take-home pay into a budget, a budget into what home you can afford, and that home into a mortgage payment with the right property tax.

Why trust a figure here

  • The math is on the page. Every result has a Show the math panel listing each step and the rule behind it.
  • Every rule has a source. The sources page lists the IRS, state, local and federal data publications used, with the date each was last checked.
  • The tests are published. 1358 automated tests, including the tax agencies' own examples, must pass before any change goes live. See how we test.
  • Mistakes are fixed in the open. Every rule change and correction is listed in the changelog.

What it is not

SalaryHome is not a tax preparer, a lender or a financial adviser, and it is not connected to the IRS or any government agency. The figures are estimates for planning. No qualified reviewer has checked the site yet; if that changes, this page will name them. Until then, the methodology sets out exactly how every figure is produced, so you can check it yourself.

Privacy by design

The calculators run in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent to us, there are no accounts, and there are no tracking cookies. The privacy policy has the details.

Who runs it
